Dr. Sylvia Earle
National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence Dr. Sylvia A. Earle, called Her Deepness by the New Yorker and the New York Times, Living Legend by the Library of Congress, and first Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine, is an oceanographer, explorer, author, field research scientist, government official, and director for corporate and non-profit organizations including the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Research.
Formerly Chief Scientist of NOAA, Dr. Earle is the Founder of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research, Inc., Founder of Mission Blue and SEAlliance. She has a B.S. degree from Florida State University, M.S. and PhD. from Duke University, 20 honorary degrees and has authored more than 175 scientific, technical, and popular publications, lectured in more than 70 countries, and appeared in hundreds of radio and television productions.
She has led more than 100 expeditions and logged more than 7000 hours underwater including leading the first team of women aquanauts during the Tektite Project in 1970, participating in nine saturation dives, and setting a record for solo diving in 1000 meters depth.

Conference Overview:
The conference will be held at Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles hotel, with programming starting at 9am until 5:30pm on October 18th (Friday) and 19th (Saturday).
The conference will be adjourned on Saturday after the awards presentation to the leading luminaries who are raising the global standard for understanding and utilizing the oceans as a systems.
Networking receptions are held at 5:30pm on both days. Connect with executives, international sports athletes, artists, curious minds, explorers, scientists, entrepreneurs, engineers, and industry professionals. Open to all conference attendees.
There are two luncheons with speakers (tickets sold separately) by:
- Astronaut Nicole Stott, on Friday October 18th, 27 years NASA veteran of 3 spaceflight missions to the International Space Station, space walker, and aquanaut.
- Dr. Lewis Duncan of US Naval War College on Saturday October 19th, Pioneering scientist and leader of the preeminent advanced military school in the world.
Evening Celebration Gala:
On Saturday evening a very special gala will be held after the conclusion of Ocean Planet Conference. Celebrate Ocean Planet Conference with of our speakers and guests as we look forward to the vision ahead to understand our ocean systems. Limited to 120 tickets.
